Helen Tabor

Helen was born in Middlesex in 1960. She graduated in 1981 with a degree in History and English from The University of York and also gained a teaching qualification in Drama, Art and English.
Until 2002, Helen managed to carry on painting whilst teaching in the UK and Bhutan, however, she is now working full-time as an artist.
Helen has successfully exhibited in many galleries since 1986, including the RSA and SAAC annual exhibitions in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Being inspired by her surroundings, in particular, the rural Scottish countryside where she now lives, she has an emotional response to the landscape.
The viewer experiences the gentle light and textures of late summer conveyed by soft muted tones and expressive use of paint. They have an abstract quality. In contrast, her figurative work is more defined - Helen's talent lies in depicting the harmony of a close and loving relationship between a mother and child or male and female.
There is a poetic and lyrical quality in Helen's work that creates a special dimension to her subject matter.
