Michael Bennett
Michael was born in Cumbria, UK, in 1934. He went to Lancaster and then Leicester Art College. On leaving college he first exhibited in Nottingham, moving to Bretton Hall in Yorkshire as a lecturer in Fine Art. He took a two year sabbatical in 1971 and went to live on the west coast of Cumbria. The two years were extended and he never returned to teaching but exhibited widely gaining a high reputation and a strong and loyal following. Michael works and reworks many of his paintings, laying the paint thickly in layers, each layer influenced by what has gone before, building up a patina of experience.
